We know Hilliard as a great place to raise a family. As a council member, Bevan will base his decisions on whether Hilliard families will benefit. If it isn't good for grandma and isn't good for children, then it isn't good for Hilliard.
Bevan's aware of how decisions made at the city level can affect the health, safety, and potential of our residents. It's important to him that the city provides a supportive environment, where families can make decisions that are in their best interest. We should be able to enjoy a high quality of life without worrying about crime, safely crossing the street, or a lack of needed amenities in town.
In the community where Bevan grew up, his house was on the edge of town, his neighbors were farmers, a corn field was right down the road, and everyone knew each other. Hilliard reminds him of that in many ways. He knows Hilliard residents want to preserve the cohesive, charming feel of the community while having the fun amenities of a larger city. He, too, wants the best of both worlds.
We can preserve Hilliard's character by intentionally shaping what our future looks like through thoughtful city council decisions that are based on community input.
Bevan supports commonsense, responsible budgeting. Those who live and work in Hilliard have invested in the community through their tax dollars. Therefore, city council has the responsibility of evaluating the costs and benefits of every service, program, and project provided by the city.
By respecting and protecting taxpayer dollars at a time many of our neighbors might be struggling financially or worrying about affordability, we can ensure the city's revenue is being used in a way that provides value back to you and your family. Bevan will prioritize the core services residents expect from the city.
Government closest to home should be the most efficient and best functioning form of government. Out of respect for its residents, the city has an obligation to use its assets in the most effective and efficient manner.
Whether we're talking about staffing, programs, services, or processes, Bevan pledges to continually reevaluate how our city government works and to seek out better, more innovative ways of doing things.
Bevan tries to be as present in the community as possible. This allows him to discuss the most pressing issues of the day with people of varying perspectives -- while also treating everyone with respect and fairness. On council, he'll be responsive to your needs.
Bevan has been complimented on how he has handled the concerns of residents while serving as chair of the city's Planning & Zoning Commission. Through his professional career, he's had the opportunity to seek public input regarding investments in the transportation system and other development-related aspects of the community. And every day, he works with people from across the state who hold a wide range of political viewpoints.
Bevan values hearing opinions that are different from his own and gaining an understanding of where people are coming from in their thought process. On city council, he'll continue to seek input from other voices and be as transparent in his decision making as possible.
Bevan takes community involvement seriously. Every case that comes before him as a member of the city's Planning & Zoning Commission requires great consideration and care, and he has never missed a meeting in his six years on the commission.
As a founding board member of Keep Hilliard Beautiful, Bevan has picked up countless bags of litter throughout the community.
As a member of the Hilliard Ohio Historical Society, he's learned a lot about Hilliard's past, with the thinking that you have to know where you've been to know where you're going.
Bevan has served as a voting location manager on election day, assisted with Freedom Fest, and taken part in a variety of events to support the Division of Police through the Hilliard Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.
Bevan has a proven track record of commitment to Hilliard and its residents. Being on Hilliard City Council will allow him to expand his service to others by using the knowledge he's attained through his ongoing community involvement.
